There will be a lot of opportunities to volunteer throughout the year. We need help with our community outreach in so many ways!  Please check out our newsletter for upcoming events as well as the home page of our website.

Communications Team

Coordinate with the committees and the Executive board.

  • Responsible for publicity, preparation of literature and articles for the SJCDBC.
  • Handle our social media accounts, keeping them current and relevant.
  • Update the website.
  • Create newsletters as needed.
  • Create materials for the other teams as needed.

2027 Nominating and Election

Responsible for activities hosted by SJCDBC. This includes planning, setup, clean up and logistics pertaining to the event. Examples are “Mix and Mingle” and “Pancake Breakfasts”, Socials, etc.

Responsible for refreshments at meetings and events hosted by the SCJDBC.

Responsible for organizing, planning, and conducting fund-raising functions and activities.

  • Coordinate with individuals and organizations within St. Johns County and other surrounding areas to engage democrats in SJC.
  • Host and participate in forums and events to foster community involvement, education, and mobilization.
  • Works with faith-based institutions to develop joint initiatives they can collaborate on.

Focus on ways to increase membership through new member outreach and
retention of current members.

  • Provide opportunities to educate the SJC community on the history of voting rights in the African American community and the purpose for voting and how to vote.
  • Provide opportunities for SJC residents to register to vote and help them to get registered.
  • Keep membership informed of candidates and campaign news, local, state, and national.
  • Identify strong candidates and support them throughout their campaigns.
  • Assists Democratic candidates in their run for office.

Conducts an audit annually on the financials of the SJCDBC at the beginning of each year.

  • Provides financial oversight, guiding the board on budgeting, financial planning, monitoring spending, ensuring compliance, and safeguarding assets to ensure the organization’s long-term financial health and mission sustainability.
  • Work with staff to develop budgets, analyze financial statements, create policies, and ensure transparent, accurate reporting to the full board for informed decision-making.
  • Prepares the annual budget and monitors the budget throughout the year.

Identify candidates for the Executive Board and manages the elections process for the Board.
