Vote by Mail!
Vote by Mail is the most convenient, time saving way to vote! Consider it a back up plan in case you get too busy, are not sure of your polling place, get sick, or bad weather hits. Vote by Mail also gives you time to review your ballot and the candidates.
Vote by Mail is very secure. Just fill out your voter information exactly as it is on your registration and date it. Then drop off your ballot at any early voting location during voting hours. or mail your ballot as soon as you fill it out. (If you are concerned about your ballot getting processed through the mail in time; simply take your ballot to the post office near you and ask them to post mark it in front of you. )
If you decide you would like to vote in person, no problem! Just tell the clerk that you HAVE NOT MAILED in your ballot, (if you know where it is, you can bring it with you and the clerk will take it for you.)
You can track your mail in ballot, Any voter who has requested a Vote by Mail ballot can track the status of his or her ballot online through the Voter Information Lookup Tool.
If you have already registered for Vote by Mail, CHECK TO BE SURE you are in the system: Check the Status by going to this page and simply putting in your name and birthdate. (Note: the website only shows your permanent St. Johns County address; even if you requested your Vote by Mail be mailed to a different address. You can call to verify your temporary address at 904-823-2238.
One last benefit, your Vote by Mail ballot is logged when it arrives, so we know you have voted and can spend our resources reaching others who have not yet voted yet!

If you have voted by mail in a previous election cycle, you will need to update your Vote by Mail status. Check to be sure!
You can register to Vote by Mail online; you can be at your home address, or in another physical location; and utilize Vote by Mail in Florida. Just remember, that Vote by Mail ballots CANNOT BE FORWARDED. So, make sure your ballot reaches you!
ANY REGISTERED VOTER can vote by mail if they get their application in by the deadline.

HOW DOES VOTING BY MAIL WORK?
Voting by Mail is a convenient and accessible way to cast your vote from home. To vote by mail, follow these simple steps:
- Register to vote.
- Request a Vote by Mail ballot now. All Vote by Mail requests that were requested before January 1, 2025 have expired! The state of Florida mandates that Vote by Mail requests be updated after every major election cycle. Make sure you have a current Vote by Mail request for the for the 2026 election cycle!
- You will receive your ballot with a return envelope in the mail; just follow the directions and return by the deadline that is listed on your ballot.
FIND YOUR POLLING PLACE
Just plug in your address before you head out to vote. There’s nothing more frustrating than showing up at your old polling place only to discover it’s moved!
What if you need help to Vote in person?
St. Johns County offers a variety of options to accommodate voters with special needs.
All polling locations during Early Voting and on Election Day are supplied with ExpressVote ballot marking devices. Voters with disabilities may use the touch-screen ballot marking device which provides ballots in both audio and visual formats, with additional ADA compliant functions to ensure voter independence when marking their ballot. Voters have the ability to review their selections and make changes before printing their ballot. After printing, the voter will insert their marked ballot into the DS300 for tabulation.
If needed, a voter can bring someone to assist them, or request assistance from an election official. The person assisting the voter must fill out a Declaration to Provide Assistance form, and cannot be their employer, agent of the employer, or union representative.
